The EC Eisbären Eppelheim is an ice hockey club from Eppelheim in the Rhein-Neckar district . The founding year was 1983. His ice hockey team currently plays in the fourth-class Regionalliga Südwest. The home venue is the ICEHOUSE Eppelheim.

history

The EC Eisbären Eppelheim was founded on March 25, 1983. In the first two years after its founding, the Eisbären played in the Baden-Württemberg State League (LL BW), from 1985 two years in the Baden-Württemberg League (BWL) and from 1987 to 1992 in the Regionalliga Süd-West (RL SW) . From 1992 to 1995, the ECE took part in the game operations of the Baden-Württemberg Ice Sports Association , until it was promoted back to the Regionalliga Süd / West in 1996. The championship won in 1997 in the Regionalliga S / W is still the greatest success in the club's history. In 1990/91 and 2016/17 the polar bears took third place in the RL-SW. In the years from 2009 to 2013, the EC Eppelheim and the Mannheim ERC formed a game community (SG) under the name " Rhein-Neckar Stars ", which also took part in the Regional League S / W. The MERC joined the SG as the reigning master of the RL SW. The first team of Eisbären Eppelheim has played in the Regionalliga Süd-West since 1996.

Ice rink

The EC Eisbären Eppelheim acquired the ice rink ICEHOUSE in 2000 and has since operated the ice rink and the catering under its own management. The ICEHOUSE is used as the home arena for the Eisbären Eppelheim, the junior teams, some hobby teams and for the public run. The hall can accommodate up to 800 spectators for ice hockey games. In the summer months the ICEHOUSE u. a. available for events, trade fairs and concerts.

offspring

Around 100 active players are among the current 200 members of the club. The majority of them are children and young people. The 1st team makes up the majority of the junior coaches and has played a major role in the growth of the junior department in recent years. A major goal of the association is to provide competitive teams in all age groups. The youth teams regularly go to tournaments in other federal states and in neighboring countries (e.g. France, Holland, Spain). There has been a cooperation with the Mannheim ERC for several years to enable children of all ages to play ice hockey.
