ESG Esslingen
The Eissportgemeinschaft Esslingen e. V. (ESG Esslingen) is an association founded in 1973 for various ice sports from Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg . There is an ice hockey , a figure skating and a curling department. Home stadium is the club's own Richard Hirschmann ice stadium.
Club and stadium history
On the initiative of Richard Hirschmann , the Eissportclub Esslingen e. V. founded. The senator died in 1974, but the goal of building an artificial ice rink was getting closer, because the mayor at the time, Eberhard Klapproth, set up a support association for the artificial ice rink Esslingen e. V. suggested. It followed on March 18, 1974. In 1976 the association had already collected 300,000 DM. With grants from the state sports association and the city, they dared to build an ice rink. The opening took place on November 6th and 7th, 1976. In 1977 the ice sports club joined the association. The club was incorporated into Eissportgesellschaft Esslingen e. V. renamed. A further expansion of the hall was possible together in 1979. In 1984 the hall got its current name, the club members decided to name the stadium on the 10th anniversary of Richard Hirschmann's death.

ESG Esslingen has a men's, a women's and various junior teams:
Women
- The women's team was one of the best in Germany, especially in the 1990s. In 1984 it won the very first and from 1995 to 1998 four more German championships and took part in the women's ice hockey Bundesliga from 1988/89 to 1989/90 , from 1991/92 to 2003/04 and from 2011/12 to 2013/14 . Since then, the team has played as Pesky Kids in the second-class EBW national league.
Men's
- In the 1994/95 season the men of SG Wernau / Esslingen won the championship in the Regionalliga South-West and promotion to the 2nd South League . The ESC Wernau was in 1986 , 1989 and 1990 to win the championship in the RL SW and ESG Esslingen was 1989 runner-up and 1991 and 1993 champion of RL SW. The ESG Esslingen men's team last played in the fourth-class Baden-Württemberg League, the top division of the Baden-Württemberg Ice Sports Association (EBW), in 2005/06 , and was no longer reported to play in 2006/07 due to a lack of players. Under the umbrella of the ESG hobby-organized team of icebreaker , originally as an independent Stuttgart were founded club and in 1994 the ESG joined, has been the 2006/07 men's team of ESG and participates in the amateur league to the Schwaben Cup part. As of the 2017/18 season, ESGE will again be participating in the Baden-Württemberg Ice Sports Association ( EBW ) and will start in the Baden-Württemberg State League.
figure skating
The figure skating department at ESG has also celebrated some successes. It has already provided 12 participants in German championships . Club members became German vice-champions in 1996 and 1998, and Baden-Württemberg champions in 2003.
Ice stock sport
There are three ice stock sport teams in the ESG: two men's and one women's team. One men's team each plays in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga Southwest.
