The women's ice hockey Bundesliga season 1989/90 was the second Bundesliga season for women in Germany. As in the previous season , the reigning champions could not defend their title. Again in the final, Mannheimer ERC Wild Cats and the EHC Eisbären Düsseldorf faced each other, but this time the Mannheim team won their second German championship title.

The league was carried out by the German Ice Hockey Federation .

mode

The preliminary round was carried out in group two relays in a single round everyone against everyone with a return game, in the southern group a double round was scheduled. Four teams in group north and two teams in group south reached the final round.

Relegation to the women's ice hockey Bundesliga 1990/91

A relegation round was played in two groups in the northern region. In addition to the last placed in the group north of the Bundesliga, the qualified teams from the Regional League North Rhine-Westphalia, 1. Hennefer EC Bonn, SV Brackwede and SC Solingen 88 (as a replacement for EC Grefrath, which withdrew) took part. The Bundesliga teams were able to hold the league and the Hennef EC to rise. From the Bayern League, the first-placed SC Riessersee was also qualified for the next season.

Final tournament

In the final tournament, which took place in Solingen , the semi-final participants were determined. The first and second places qualified for this. The two third-placed players competed later in the game for fifth place.
