As in the previous season, the Bundesliga clubs will initially play a double round until February 21, 2021. The previous three-point rule was retained, so that if you win in regular time, the winner receives three points and the loser receives no point at all. In the event of a tie after regular time, both teams will each receive one point. The winner of the subsequent extra time or the penalty shootout receives an additional point.
Then play-offs with semi-finals and finals were played out for the teams in places 1 to 4 to determine the champions.
In addition to the six teams of the previous season (after the withdrawal of the Düsseldorfer EG), the women of the Cologne EC are promoted .
