In the preliminary round , each of the two groups North and South was played in a single round, each against each other according to the 2-point system. Then the participants in places 1 to 3 of the two groups took part in the intermediate round, in which the results of the games against each other were taken over. After completing the intermediate round, the participants took 1st place with 4th in the final tournament of the German Championship. The participants in the other places after the preliminary round played the cup round south and north. The winners of the cup rounds then contested the games for the DEB Women's Cup in 2006 , while the last place should be the relegated athletes in the corresponding league of the national association. After the target strength was not reached in the north preliminary round, no athletic relegation was determined in the north cup.

  • The MERC Wild Cats had given up play in the 05/06 season. After four players terminated their contracts, the Mannheim ERC had to withdraw its women's team from the women's Bundesliga North game operations with immediate effect, as there was no longer a team capable of playing. The MERC was therefore removed from the table and from the rating.

Preliminary round

The participants in places 1 to 3 took part in the intermediate round, whereby the results were adopted against each other. The other participants took part in the cup round of their group.
