Kampeters Kolk is a nature reserve in the Senne in the area of the city of Bielefeld . It is led with the number BI-026 and serves to maintain a nutrient-poor heather pond with adjacent wet meadows , sedges , reeds, willow-buckthorn bushes and their rare animal and plant species.
Location and characteristics
The pond is not far from the Georg Müller Primary School Senne (formerly Grundheider School). Buschkampstrasse runs along its eastern flank. The pond was designated as a natural monument as early as 1932 . In 1993 the area with a size of 2.0 ha was raised to the status of a nature reserve . The pond was created by potting up a small heather moor that had developed in a depression without drainage.
vegetation
Because of the numerous water lilies ( Nymphaea alba ) that once adorned the water surface, Kampeters Kolk was also popularly known as the "rose pond". The body of water used to have a number of oligotraphent species, including:
- Bell heather ( Erica tetralix )
- Cranberry ( Vaccinium oxycoccus )
- Rosemary heather ( Andromeda polifolia )
- Round-leaved sundew ( Drosera rotundifolia )
- Narrow-leaved cottongrass ( Eriophorum angustifolium )
- Multi-stemmed bog rush ( Eleocharis multicaulis )
Originally poor in nutrients, the pond is now completely eutrophicated by the discharge of sewage and nutrients from the surrounding area . The occurrences of white water lily ( Nymphaea alba ), lung gentian ( Gentiana pneumonanthe ) and fever clover ( Menyanthes trifoliata ), which were found in 1968 , have long been extinct. The common toad spawns in the water .
