Reiherbach und Röhrbach is a nature reserve with a size of 132.5  hectares in the Windflöte district of the city of Bielefeld . It is managed with the number BI-010. The area was designated as a nature reserve in 2005. It is used for large-scale development to maintain and meandering streams with natural stream sections with steep banks, a number of tributaries, ponds and Blänken, extensive, groundwater-dominated wetlands and old beech deciduous forest with its rare animal and plant species.

location

The protected area is located west of the Windflöte part of the Bielefeld district of Senne and north of the Gütersloh district of Friedrichsdorf , which borders the area directly. It is traversed in a westerly direction by the eponymous streams Reiherbach and Röhrbach . In the northeast, the Black Fens is another nature reserve directly adjacent.

The area has a slope of about ten meters on and follows the flattening of the Teutoburg Forest upstream Senne landscape , with the highest point at 102  meters above sea level. NHN is located in the northeast.

Characteristic

The protection area "Reiher- und Röhrbach" is largely a structurally rich, extensive grassland-shaped and largely settlement-free cultural landscape. In the partially near-natural lowland area of ​​the Reiherbach there are also forest areas and in the western area also small-scale swamp forests , ponds, Großseggenrieder and fallow areas . It is part of a biotope network axis in the south-west of Bielefeld due to the connection to the “Schwarzes Venn” areas to the east and the Rieselfelder Windel .
