The 2009/10 season was the 22nd edition of the women's ice hockey Bundesliga in Germany . The league was carried out by the German Ice Hockey Federation .

Before the season

The champion of the 2nd division north - EC Bergkamen 1b - was not allowed to be promoted and on the part of the champions of the Bavarian regional league - ESV Kaufbeuren - and the ice hockey Baden-Württemberg league - ESG Esslingen - there was no interest in promotion, so after the relegation of the - meanwhile inactive - team of the ERSC Ottobrunn and the departure of the team of Hamburger SV, only seven participants submitted a report for the league.

mode

As in the previous season , the Bundesliga clubs initially played a single round , with the number of games also falling from 16 to twelve due to the league downsizing from nine to seven teams. Unlike in the previous year, the league was then split up and the four best teams played the championship in a double round . Places 5 to 7 also came in a double round, with the first two qualifying for the DEB Cup. The last of the qualifying round did not relegate.

Climbers

The champions of the 2nd division north and the winner from the relegation games in Bavaria / Baden-Württemberg can also be promoted. The target strength for the Bundesliga is still 12 clubs.

Points regulation

The scheme was retained that

  • in the event of a win in normal playing time, the winner three points; the loser doesn't lose a point
  • in the event of a tie after regular time, the winner, who is determined in a shootout, receives two points and the loser receives one point.
