The EHC Eisbären Düsseldorf were a German women's ice hockey club from Düsseldorf that won the German championship four times between 1985 and 1989 .

history

When the North Rhine-Westphalian ice hockey association organized a state championship for the first time in the 1983/84 season, the Düsseldorf polar bears took part. Between 1985 and 1988, the polar bears qualified via the North Rhine-Westphalia state championship and the north qualifying round at the final round of the German championship , where they were German women champions in 1985, 1986 and 1987. In 1988 the polar bears won the runner-up.

In 1988 the EHC Eisbären Düsseldorf was one of the founding members of the women's ice hockey Bundesliga , where, as in the previous year, it defeated the Mannheim ERC and was again German champion. In the seasons 1989/90 and 1990/91 the women succeeded again in participating in the final round of the German championship, in which they were both runner-up. The club then withdrew from the Bundesliga and finally disbanded in 1993.

The women's team Eisheilige Düsseldorf was founded as the successor to the EHC Eisbären before the DEC Düsseldorf Devils was founded in 1998 . Today he takes part in the Women's Association League North Rhine-Westphalia.
