The ESV Burgau, which existed until 2000, took part with the first team in the fourth-highest division in Germany for several years. ESV Burgau 2000, founded in 2000, later took on the name ESV Burgau again - the first team has played in the - fifth-class - Bavarian State League since 2000. The home venue is the Burgau ice rink.
history
The first friendly game of the newly founded ice hockey department took place in 1971 against Ichenhausen. In the same year, the game operations in the Bavarian regional league of the BEV began. The successful year 1976 ended with winning the Bayern Cup and the Raiffeisen Cup.
The finals of the cup competitions were watched by 800 and 750 spectators respectively. While it was only enough for the Bavarian regional league runner-up in 1977, the championship in 1978 saw the march through the Bavarian league into the regional league, which the ESV had to leave after just one season. With the win of the Bavarian championship in 1983 the renewed promotion to the regional league succeeded at the same time, in which the team of the ESV could hold itself this time 2 years. This was followed by 3 years in the Bavarian League and another 3 years in the Bavarian State League until there was Bavarian League ice hockey in Burgau again in the 1991/92 season. From 1995/96 to 1997/98 was played in the fourth class BEL and a year later for one season in the fifth class Bayernliga. In the summer of 2000, the ESV was dissolved as part of the insolvency proceedings and founded as the successor to the ESV Burgau 2000 , which has played in the Bavarian State League, which has been classified as the fifth division since the 2002/03 season, since 2000. Later the ESV 2000 again took the name ESV Burgau .
