Thanning is a district of the Upper Bavarian municipality of Egling in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district . The parish village is about one kilometer east of Egling on State Road 2070 .
Thanning joined Egling on January 1, 1973 through the Voluntary Association.

The EC Thanning (ECT) had an ice hockey team that safely participated in the games of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association (BEV) from 1969 to 1996 and last attempted to participate in the game in 2002/03. His successes include being promoted to the Bavarian State League twice and participating in the Bavarian Natural Ice League for five years . Up to 400 spectators came to the top games in the natural ice stadium on Müllerberg.
Today the ECT has a hobby team that also plays their games on Müllerberg or in the Geretsried ice rink . In addition to ice hockey, the club also runs the football and stick shooting departments .
