from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heino Erik Jaeger (born January 1, 1938 in Hamburg-Harburg ; † July 7, 1997 in Bad Oldesloe ; also written Jäger ) was a German painter , graphic artist and satirist .

Life

The son of the photographer Hein Jaeger and the tailor Elli Jaeger attended primary school in Dresden from September 1944 . There he experienced the bombing of Dresden . After the family fled back to Hamburg in May 1945, he went to primary school there until March 1953. On April 1, 1953, Heino Jaeger began training as a textile pattern draftsman at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts . After completing his training, he studied for seven semesters from 1956 to 1961 at the University of Fine Arts with Alfred Mahlau and Werner Bunz . At this time he often lived off odd jobs , for example designing scenarios for the Harburg Helms Museum , but was then put through his acquaintance with Jürgen von Tomëi to Hanns Dieter Hüsch , who discovered him.

Now Jaeger gained popularity on the radio through his recitations in role prose . He was best known in the late 1960s / early 1970s with his series produced by Saarland Radio . Ask Dr. Jaeger and Das current Jaegermagazin , in which he broadcasts the NDR broadcast What do you want to know? imitated with the well-known radio advisors Walther von Hollander and Erwin Marcus . Record recordings followed.

After setting a fire in his apartment in 1983 to protest against the noise of a neighbor's television and destroying his studio in the process, Jaeger was hardly artistically active. After several other fires that he had caused himself and after finding that he was "progressing neglect and alcohol addiction", the Hamburg health authority admitted him to the closed Ochsenzoll psychiatry in the mid-1980s. Later he was transferred to the social psychiatric nursing home Haus Ingrid in Bad Oldesloe.

Heino Jaeger's grave

After staying in a nursing home for almost ten years, Heino Jaeger died of a stroke and was buried in the old Bad Oldeslo cemetery near the home.

reception

After his admission to psychiatry, Jaeger fell into oblivion. Loriot asked: “How did it happen that Heino Jaeger remained an insider tip for 25 years? We probably didn't deserve it. ”For Eckhard Henscheid he is the Mozart of the comedy .

His friend and later court-appointed carer Joska Pintschovius wrote his first Jaeger biography in 2005.

The Hamburg humorist Olli Dittrich , a great admirer of Heino Jaeger's art (he praises him as a master of all of us, a genius and to this day unequaled ), tried the artist's works with his program You don't believe it in Hamburg's St. Pauli Theater to make it known to a wider audience again. A feature film about Heino Jaeger with Olli Dittrich in the role of the artist has also been announced (script: Rocko Schamoni , director: Lars Jessen ).

In 2012 the documentary Heino Jaeger - look before you kuck by Gerd Kroske about Jaeger's life came to the cinema.
