Marcus Ahlm (born July 7, 1978 in Norra Åsum , Kristianstad municipality ) is a former Swedish handball player .

Career

In his youth, Marcus Ahlm played handball at IFK Kristianstad and then moved to IFK Ystad HK . In 2003 he came to THW Kiel and developed into one of the most important players in the 2004/05 season. This season he formed the middle block with Nikola Karabatić , which was one of the best in German handball. Ahlm ended his career after the 2012/13 season. He was considered one of the best circular runners in the world. He is compared to Magnus Wislander . In 2005 he was voted “Sweden's Player of the Year”. With THW Kiel, Ahlm won the German championship eight times and the Champions League three times .

In 1999 Marcus Ahlm took part in the Junior World Championships (the Swedes won silver), and in 2001 he played for the Swedish men's national team for the first time . A year later, the Swedes won the European Championship in their own country. Marcus Ahlm was also planned as a circle runner for the 2005 World Cup qualification. An injury prevented him from participating (games against Turkey, Belgium and Belarus). Pelle Linders stepped in for him . Marcus Ahlm made 114 international appearances, scoring 367 goals.

After the end of his active career, Ahlm was a member of the supervisory board of THW Kiel until February 2014.
