Alois Anderle (born July 7, 1869 in Vienna , † 1953 on Long Island , United States ) was an Austrian swimmer and water polo player .

biography

In 1899, Anderle swam from Vienna to Pressburg in seven hours without a boat escort . In 1900 he became Austrian runner-up in head wide jumping . At an international competition in Vienna in 1904, he took second place in the crab swimming .

He took part in the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris . Over 100 meters freestyle he was eliminated in the preliminary run. In underwater swimming , he finished 14th.

In 1909, when he emigrated to New York, he was the first to swim the length of Boston Harbor from Charlestown Bridge to the lighthouse.
