Reinhold Artmann

Reinhold Artmann (born July 7, 1870 in Coburg ; † May 9, 1960 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Reinhold Artmann was the son of the professional soldier Johann Heinrich Artmann, who died at Sedan in September 1870 . Reinhold Artmann completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter, then went on a hike that took him to America, and finally worked as a master carpenter in Coburg. Artmann was a co-founder of the Coburg consumer association , and before 1900 he joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany. During the First World War he was drafted into the Landsturm . On November 10, 1918, he became chairman of the Coburg Soldiers' Council and, following the election on February 9, 1919, moved into the Coburg state assembly as a member of the SPD. On March 10, 1919 Artmann was elected to the government of the Free State of Coburg as one of three members - from August with the title "Staatsrat" . He advocated the connection of Coburg to the state of Thuringia . He held the office of State Council until the unification of the Free State of Coburg with the Free State of Bavaria on July 1, 1920. He then worked again as a carpenter and, among other things, made the model of the Veste Coburg in 1932 , which is set up in the Coburg town hall . After the Second World War he was a member of a panel of judges . Reinhold Artmann died in 1960 at the age of 90 as the last former member of the Coburg regional assembly.
