Stefania Buttignon (born July 7, 1997 in Monfalcone ) is an Italian rower . In 2019 she won the bronze medal together with Stefania Gobbi at the European Rowing Championships in double sculls.

Career

In 2018 Stefania Buttignon took part in the U23 Rowing World Championships for the first and only time in her career . With Silvia Crosio she formed the lightweight double scull at the U23 World Championships 2019 in Poznan . Together they reached the A-final and were able to win the U23 world championship title with almost three seconds ahead of the German boat and the boat from the United Kingdom. As the newly crowned U23 world champion, Stefania Buttignon was nominated by the Italian Rowing Association as reserve driver for the 2018 World Championships in Plovdiv , where she was not used. A year later she was nominated for the 2019 European Rowing Championships in Lucerne , where she formed the Italian double scull with Stefania Gobbi . They qualified for the A final and were able to secure the bronze medal there behind the German boat, which was formed by Leonie Menzel and Carlotta Nwajide , and the Romanian boat, which was formed by Nicoleta-Ancuța Bodnar and Simona Geanina Radiș .

Between June 21 and 23, 2019, Stefania Buttignon took part in the Rowing World Cup in Poznan , making her debut in this racing series. Together with Stefania Gobbi, she missed the A final in a double scull and took second place in the B final. At the end of the season, she was nominated by the Italian Association for the 2019 World Championships in Linz and was allowed to start there in a double scull with Stefania Gobbi. In the semifinals, the two missed the qualification for the A-final and then went to the start in the B-final, which they could win and thus finished the competition in seventh place.
