Franco Andolfo (born July 7, 1938 in Este , Padua province , † July 23, 2012 in Vienna ) was an Italian - Austrian entertainer , pop singer and composer .

Life

Andolfo played the accordion from the age of six . After nine years of schooling, he began a professional musician career in Abano Terme . From the age of 17 he made international appearances. He performed in Graz in 1955 , from 1956 to 1959 in Germany, Holland and Switzerland and then for several years in Beirut . In 1966 he had his first engagement in the Eden Bar in Vienna and from 1967 he performed 21 seasons in the Schlossbar in Velden am Wörthersee . Further appearances followed in Las Vegas (1991) and New York (1993) , among others . He appeared 15 times at the Vienna Opera Ball . Until he had to cut short for health reasons in 2001, he himself was the host of Franco's Club in Casino Velden .

His first single, called Bimba-Bimba , was recorded in Munich. His first LP was released in 1972 with the title Una festa musicale , followed in 1976 by the LPs Olympiade and Ciao amici ciao . Further LPs were Amore scusami and Pescatore di messina . In 2002 he published his first CD for the benefit campaign Licht ins Dunkel of the ORF with the title La mia Ferrari .

In 1990 Andolfo wrote the music for the films Ein Schloß am Wörthersee and Lex Minister . In 1995 he also composed the music for the film A Judge to Kiss . Andolfo also composed numerous Viennese songs such as A Wiener Bua and Wean is mei Wöd .

In 1966 he married Marianne from Berlin, with whom he has two sons. In 1982 he received Austrian citizenship. In December 2010, Andolfo suffered a stroke. Almost a year later he married his partner Claudia, an elementary school teacher.

Andolfo was awarded the Ring of Honor of the Municipality of Velden, the Great Golden Decoration of Honor of the State of Carinthia , the Golden City Hall Man of Vienna (1994), the Cavaliere Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana (1995) and the Carinthian State Order in Silver (2002).
