Louis Anseaume (* 1721 in Paris ; † July 7, 1784 there ) was a French librettist.

Little is known about Anseaume's life. In his youth he is said to have belonged to a Congrégation des Pères de la Doctrine Chrétienne and then worked as Maître de pension and Garcon tapissier ; It remains unclear whether these were activities in the theater. From 1753 to 1757 he worked as a sous-directeur and until 1761 as a prompter at the Opéra-Comique . After the merger with the Italian Théâtre in 1762, he worked as a repetitor and librettist. His libretti - in addition to independent works and revisions of existing pieces and parodies - appeared in the three-volume edition Théâtre de M. Anseaume ou Recueil des Comédies, Parodies et Opéra-Comiques qu'il a donnés jusqu'à ce jour, avec les Airs, in 1766 Rondes et Vaudevilles notés dans chaque Pièce . Christoph Willibald Gluck , André-Ernest-Modeste Grétry , François-André Danican Philidor and Jean-Louis Laruette composed operas based on his libretti, among others .
