Harald Katemann (born July 7, 1972 in Bocholt ) is a German former soccer player and current soccer coach . Katemann played 51 first division games (three goals) and 73 second division games (four goals) in Germany and 33 first division games in Austria.
Career
In his youth, Katemann played for the first division club 1. FC Bocholt , with whom he rose in 1994 to the Regionalliga West / Südwest . In 1993, Katemann took part in the military world championship in Morocco with the Bundeswehr national team in addition to team-mates like Markus Babbel , Willi Landgraf , Roy Präger and Thorsten Judt and took third place.
From 1994 to 1999 Katemann played for Fortuna Düsseldorf , initially in the second Bundesliga . With Düsseldorf he rose to the first division in 1995. He became known during the Bundesliga times for his wide throw-ins, which led to goals several times. The Düsseldorfer rose in 1997 in the 2nd league, 1999 in the regional league. Katemann moved to Austria Lustenau in 1999 in the Austrian first division . He played with Lustenau in the 1999 UEFA Intertoto Cup . After Lustenau's descent in 2000, he returned from Austria to his home club in Bocholt, for which he was active in the Oberliga Nordrhein until 2006 . Then he was in Emmerich am Rhein as the player-coach of the district league team Fortuna Elten.
In the summer of 2008 Katemann took over the coaching position at the district league club SC 26 Bocholt, where he had been active as a player before his time at 1. FC Bocholt, and in 2011 led him to promotion to the district league . For the 2012/13 season, the Westphalian national division club Viktoria Heiden signed him as a new coach. In the second year he led Heiden to promotion to the Westphalia League (Verbandsliga). In 2017, Heiden was relegated to the state league again. In October 2017, Katemann was dismissed as a trainer.
