Susann Goksør Bjerkrheim (born July 7, 1970 in Oslo , Norway , born Susann Goksør ) is a former Norwegian handball player .

Career

Susann Goksør Bjerkrheim started playing handball at the age of eleven at Bækkelagets SK , where she made her debut in the women's team at the age of 15. With Bækkelaget she won the Norgesmesterskap, the Norwegian cup competition, in 1994 and 1997. Furthermore, the back court player was in the final of the Euro City Cup in 1994 and a year later in the final of the EHF Cup . After the 1996/97 season, she moved to Nordstrand IF . In October 2000 she had to end her career on the advice of her doctor. In 2008 she returned to the field and played three games for Nordstrand.

Susann Goksør Bjerkrheim initially played 20 international matches for the Norwegian youth national team, for which she scored 74 goals. On June 17, 1987, she made her debut in the Norwegian senior team . With Norway the right-hander took part in the Olympic Games in 1992 , 1996 and 2000 , where she won the silver medal in 1992 and the bronze medal in 2000. Other tournaments were the World Championships in 1990 , 1993 , 1995 , 1997 and 1999 as well as the European Championships in 1994 and 1996 . She won the gold medal at the 1999 World Cup, the silver medal at the 1996 and 1997 World Cups and the bronze medal at the 1993 and 1994 World Cups. When the Norwegians won the title at the European Championships in 1998 , she had to pause due to a cruciate ligament injury. With a total of 296 international matches, Susann Goksør Bjerkrheim was Norway's record player for many years and was only overtaken by Karoline Dyhre Breivang on November 30, 2014 .

Private

Susann Goksør Bjerkrheim is married to the former handball player Svein Erik Bjerkrheim . The couple have two children together.
