history
Relatively soon after it was founded in 1909, Bækkelagets SK launched a women's handball department. In 1938 they played against Nordstrand IF in the final of the first ever Norwegian field handball championship, but initially lost; only two years later did the club celebrate its first title.
After that it became increasingly quiet around the capital club; Success only returned in the 1990s: in 1994 the team won its first indoor handball championship. With players like Anja Andersen and Cecilie Leganger or coach Frode Kyvåg, the club management brought top stars of international handball to Norway and built up a powerful team: in 1998 and 1999 the team won the European Cup Winners' Cup , and in 1994 they reached the final of the Euro City Cup , 1995 in the final of the EHF Cup and in 1998 and 1999 in the final of the EHF Champions Trophy . In the new millennium, Bækkelagets SK was increasingly overtaken by Byåsen IL and Larvik HK . In the 2008/09 season Bækkelagets rose to the 1st division.
The association currently has three honorary members: Susann Goksør Bjerkrheim , Sahra Hausmann and Cecilie Leganger
