Bjørnar Valstad (born April 27, 1967 ) is a former Norwegian orienteer .

Valstad was world champion in 1999 and 2004 both on the long distance and with the Norwegian relay. After the double triumph in 2004, he ended his career in which he won four gold, two silver and three bronze medals at world championships. At European Championships, which have been held again since 2000, he won bronze in 2000 and in 2002 behind the Swiss Thomas Bührer and at the same time silver in the long distance with the Swede Emil Wingstedt . At the 2001 World Games , the first to have orienteering on the program, he won gold in the mixed relay with Hanne Staff , Tore Sandvik and Birgitte Husebye . In 2002 he won the overall World Cup.

In 1999 and 2002 he won the Jukola season in the season of the Oslo club Bækkelagets SK , in 1995 with NTHI . Valstad also ran for clubs Nydalens Skiklub and Stjørdals / Blink . At Norwegian championships he won ten titles and four other titles with the relay.

Valstad is married to Hanne Staff and has two children with her (as of 2009).
