Matthias Merz

Matthias Merz (born February 1, 1984 in Menziken , Aargau ) is a former Swiss orienteer .

He became internationally known for winning complete sets of medals at the Junior World Championships in 2003 and 2004 and above all for winning the long distance at the 2007 World Championships . Overall, Merz won two gold, three silver and four bronze medals at world championships between 2005 and 2012.

At the end of 2013, Matthias Merz retired from top-class sport. He ran in Switzerland for the club OLG Rymenzburg and internationally for the Finnish club Rajamäen Rykmentti (until 2011) and the OK Tisaren from Sweden (2012 and 2013).
