Thomas Buehrer

Thomas Bührer (born January 30, 1968 ) is a former Swiss orienteer . He is a three-time relay world champion and long distance world champion from 2003.

Bührer was already used in the World Cup in 1988. His first World Cup appearance was in Czechoslovakia in 1991, when he immediately won gold with the Swiss relay, in which Alain Berger , Urs Flühmann and Christian Aebersold ran alongside him . In 1993 in the United States and 1995 in Germany, the Swiss defended the title with Bührer in the relay. In 1995 he had achieved his best individual World Cup result to date with fourth place on the short distance. After the Swiss title trick, the season no longer succeeded in building on old successes. But Bührer was able to gain a foothold in the top of the world, which was also proven by his performance in the World Cup. At the European Championships in 2002Thomas Bührer won the long distance title in Hungary and a year later he was also world champion in the same competition at the home World Cup in Rapperswil .

Thomas Bührer won the Swiss championship in the long distance in 1992, 1993 and 1996. In the middle distance he won the title in 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2000. He won the night running championship in 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999 and 2000. With the Higher Regional Court of Cordoba , he won the national relay championship in 1992, 1994, 1997 and 2001. In 1994, 1997, 1998 and 2002 he won the Swiss team championship with this club.
