Christian Aebersold

Christian Aebersold (born February 22, 1962 ) is a former Swiss orienteer . In 1991, 1993 and 1995 he was world champion with the Swiss relay.

Athletic career

Aebersold was a member of the SOLV national team from 1980 to 1998 . His greatest successes were the three world championship titles that he won in 1991, 1993 and 1995 with the Swiss relay. Other runners in the Swiss relay at this time were Thomas Bührer , Alain Berger , Urs Flühmann , Dominik Humbel and Daniel Hotz . He achieved his best individual results in 1991 in Czechoslovakia, when he finished sixth on the long distance and fourth on the short distance.

Aebersold won the Swiss championship on the classic long distance in 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1990. In 1986 and 1987 he was Swiss champion with the STB , from 1988 to 1991 he won with the relay STB / CO Chenau / OLG Baselland , two more times in 1996 and again 1998 with the CO Chenau . He won the Swiss team championship in 1988, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1996 and 1999. After the 1999 season, he ended a career.

In addition, he became Swiss champion in the 25-kilometer road race in 1988.

Aebersold works as a doctor in Biel . In 1990 he passed the state examination in human medicine at the University of Bern . 1995 to 1998 followed a training in sports medicine.
