Ola Skarholt

Ola Skarholt (born November 30, 1939 - † June 18, 2017 ) was a Norwegian orienteer . In 1970 he became world champion with the Norwegian relay.

Skarholt was runner-up in Europe in 1964 with the Norwegian relay team (Skarholt, Per Kristiansen , Magne Lystad and Stig Berge ). The following year, the Norwegian relay with Skarholt, Åge Hadler , Peer Staff and Stig Berge became Nordic champions. At the first two orienteering world championships in Fiskari in 1966 and in Linköping in 1968 , the Norwegians won bronze with Skarholt. In 1970 the relay won the gold medal at the World Championships in the GDR. Skarholt ran in a team with Stig Berge, Per Fosser and Åge Hadler, the lead over the second-placed Swedish relay was over 15 minutes. Skarholt narrowly missed an individual medal in 1970. When Stig Berge won, Skarholt was ten seconds behind third-placed Dieter Hulliger from Switzerland.

He died in 2017 at the age of 77.
