Kent Olsson

Kent Olsson (* 1958 ) is a Swedish orienteer who won seven world championship medals between 1983 and 1991, including the gold medal in the individual in 1987. Three times, namely in 1982, 1986 and 1987, he was named orienteer of the year in Sweden by Swedish sports journalists.

In 1982 Olsson drew attention to himself with his two titles at the Swedish championships (long distance and night running). At the Nordic Championships in Bornholm in the same year , he finished third. In 1983 he made his world championship debut with 10th place in the singles. With the team he won the bronze medal. After Olsson did not take part in the 1985 World Championships , he became world champion in Gérardmer in 1987 . He relegated the Norwegian top runner Tore Sagvolden to second place by 59 seconds. At the two subsequent World Championships in 1989 and 1991, Olsson was able to win two silver medals each.

Kent Olsson won five Swedish championships: two each over the long distance and two in the night orienteering, and again in 1993 with his team OK Orion from Jämjö .
