World orienteering championships 1985

The 11th World Orienteering Championships were held from 4. September bis 6. September 1985 in the area around Bendigo in Australia instead.

The Finn Kari Sallinen managed to break the Norwegian dominance of the last few years. Sallinen had almost two minutes ahead of Tore Sagvolden from Norway. Annichen Kringstad from Sweden again celebrated the golden world championships for women . As in 1981 and 1983, she won gold in Australia in both singles and relay in 1985.
