Marita Skogum

Marita Skogum (born January 3, 1961 ) is a former Swedish orienteer .

Skogum became the Nordic orienteering champion in 1982. The following year her first World Cup appearance followed in the title fights in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary. She finished second in the individual competition behind her compatriot Annichen Kringstad-Svensson . In the season she won gold together with Karin Rabe , Kerstin Månsson and Annichen Kringstad-Svensson. In 1989 she became world champion in the individual run and with the Swedish relay, which remained successful in 1991 and 1993. In the individual competitions - the short distance had meanwhile been introduced as a new competition - she won a gold, silver and bronze medal. At the Nordic Championships in 1992 she achieved a triple triumph. In addition, she was the winner of the overall World Cup that year .

At Swedish championships, Skogum won eight titles: twice with the relay, twice in the long distance, twice in the ultra long distance and once each in the night run and on the middle distance. She was awarded the BT plaque five times by the daily Borås Tidning and was Sweden's orienteer of the year 1989, 1992 and 1993.

In 2001 she became the women's coach for the Swedish national team. Between 2006 and 2010 she also had overall responsibility for the Swedish team.
