Marianne Andersen (born March 26, 1980 in Drammen ) is a Norwegian orienteer . In 2009 she won the world title with the relay, she is also eight times vice world champion and three times vice European champion.

Career

Andersen pursues the curse of the eternal second. So far, she has won eleven silver medals at world and European championships, but only one gold medal at the 2009 world championship with the relay. She won her first silver medals at the European Championships in 2004 and at the World Championships in 2005 with the Norwegian relay.

In 2006 she was able to celebrate major international successes for the first time in singles. In Otepää , Estonia , where the 2006 European Championships took place, she was second in the sprint behind Simone Niggli from Switzerland and second in the middle distance behind Minna Kauppi from Finland . At the World Championships three months later in Denmark, she won the silver medals in the middle and long distance, both times behind Simone Niggli. Andersen also finished the World Cup season second behind Simone Niggli. Between 2007 and 2010, Andersen always won at least one medal at the annual world championships. 2007 two bronze medals, 2008 silver in the long distance behind the Czech Dana Brožková . In 2009 in Miskolc , Hungary , she won two more silver medals and also won the gold medal in the relay competition with Betty Ann Nilsen and Anne Margrethe Hausken . In 2010 in Trondheim, Marianne Andersen won bronze in the sprint and middle distance and silver in the relay. She also came second in the long distance, once again behind the Swiss Simone Niggli.

At the national championships, Andersen has so far secured 15 gold, four silver and ten bronze medals. She starts for the clubs Nydalens SK , NTNUI and Konnerud IL . In 2019 she won the Jukola relay in the season with Marianne Riddervold Kahrs , Marie Olaussen and Kamilla Olaussen .
