Karolina Arewång-Højsgaard (* 12. March 1971 in Oxelösund as Karolina Arewång ) is a Swedish orienteer .

Career

Karolina Arewång was third at the Junior World Championships in 1991. In the next few years she developed into one of the best orienteering runners in the world. In 1994 she became the first Swedish champion over the long distance. But it would take a few more years before it became internationally successful. At the 2003 World Championships , she came second in the long distance competition. With the relay she won another silver medal. Since then she has been established among the world's best and has been able to confirm her achievements: At the 2004 World Championships in Västerås , she won silver in the sprint and gold over the long distance as well as with the team. The Swedish women also won the relay competition at the European Championships in Roskilde , Denmark . In 2004 she was voted orienteer of the year in Sweden. In the following years she was also in the top ten results lists. With the Swedish relay she collected other medals at European and World Championships. With her club Domnarvets GoIF from Borlänge , she took part in the Finnish Venla relay race several times and won it in 2008. In 2000 and 2005 she won the Tiomila with this club . In 2003 she became Nordic champion in cross-country skiing .

Karolina is married to the Danish runner Thomas Højsgaard . The couple have two children.
