Sabine Hauswirth (born December 8, 1987 in Belp ) is a Swiss orienteer .

Athletic career

In 2007 Sabine Hauswirth made it onto the podium for the first time at the Junior World Championship in Dubbo . At the 2014 European Championships in Portugal, she celebrated her podium premiere among the elite when she won gold in the relay. In 2014 she won relay gold at the World Championships together with Sara Lüscher and Judith Wyder . In 2018 , Hauswirth ran on the podium for the first time at the world championships in Latvia at the age of 31 at a major international event among the elite in a single race. Over the long distance she won bronze behind the Swede Tove Alexandersson and Maja Alm from Denmark . At the 2019 World Championships in Norway, Hauswirth won the silver medal with the women's relay around Simona Aebersold and Julia Jakob. The trio lost just 4 seconds to the victorious Swedes. Hauswirth is also regularly in the top 10 in the World Cup. The Bernese competes for the OL Norska club.

In addition to orienteering, Hauswirth is also involved in other sports, for example she has already competed in the Duathlon Powerman Zofingen .

Personal

Sabine Hauswirth was born in Belp in the canton of Bern . In addition to her career as an orienteer, the Bern native completed an apprenticeship as a medical masseuse.
