Brit Volden

Brit Volden (born April 4, 1960 ) is a former Norwegian orienteer .

Volden won a total of four silver medals at world championships, her first as a 19-year-old on her world championship debut in 1979 in Tampere, Finland, when she was second in the relay race behind the Finnish team with Anne Berit Eid and Astrid Carlsson . In 1981 in Switzerland she was runner- up behind the Swede Annichen Kringstad in the individual run. She was able to repeat this placement in Australia in 1985. Here it was again behind Kringstad. Her participation in the Nordic Championships in Norway in 1984 and in Åland in 1986 was successful. In both championships she achieved double triumphs in singles and with the relay. With the relay she won her fifth Nordic Championship in 1988. Volden was also able to win silver with the relay at World Championships in 1987, this time as the final runner in a team with Ragnhild Bratberg , Ragnhild Bente Andersen and Ellen Sofie Olsvik .

Brit Volden is married to the multiple world orienteering champion Øyvin Thon . She ran for the Kongsberg IF club .
