Annichen Kringstad

Annichen Cecilie Kringstad (born July 15, 1960 in Oslo ) is a former Swedish orienteer .

Alongside Simone Niggli-Luder, Kringstad is considered the best orienteer ever. Kringstad won both the individual race and the relay at the world championships in 1981, 1983 and 1985. Her first of a total of four world championships she completed in 1979 in Tampere, Finland, and came in ninth place in the individual run. In 1981, she finally achieved her first double triumph in Thun , Switzerland : In the singles she left the Norwegian Brit Volden behind for more than three minutes and in the relay with Arja Hannus , Barbro Lönnkvist and Karin Rabe , the Swedes took the lead by over 15 minutes Finland season through. The 1983 World Championships in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary , were similarly dominant : this time Kringstad had a lead of over seven minutes over compatriot Marita Skogum in the individual race . In 1981, 1982, 1983, 1985 and 1986 she won the multi-day orienteering O-rings . Between 1978 and 1985 Kringstad won 14 Swedish championships: four in the night orienteering, three in the long distance, two in the ultra long distance and five in the relay. In 1984 she was also the Swedish runner-up in the marathon.

In addition, she was honored with the Svenska Dagbladet gold medal and the radio sport Jerringpris in 1981 and was named orienteer of the year in Sweden in 1981 and 1985.

Kringstad ran for the Swedish orienteering clubs Säffle OK , OK Ravinen and Stora Tuna IK . With Stora Tuna IK she won the Venlojen viesti in 1982, 1984 and 1985 , she won the Tiomila in 1980 and 1981 with the OK Ravinen and in 1982 and 1984 with Stora Tuna.
