Marlena Jansson

Marlena Jansson (born November 20, 1970 ) is a former Swedish orienteer .

Jansson took part in the first Junior World Championships in orienteering in Älvsbyn in 1990 and won the silver medal in the individual decision behind the Norwegian Torunn Fossli and also silver in the relay with Gunilla Svärd and Karin Wollbrand . A year later she took part in the active world championships in Czechoslovakia for the first time and won relay gold with Arja Hannus , Christina Blomqvist and Marita Skogum . In 1992 she became the Nordic Champion in the relay with Anette Nilsson , Annika Zell and Marita Skogum. Behind Skogum and Nilsson, she won the bronze medal on the short distance. In 1993, the Swedes defended their 1991 relay gold with the line-up of Nilsson, Jansson, Anna Bogren and Skogum. Jansson was sixth in each of the two individual competitions. In 1994 she won the overall ranking of the Orienteering World Cup . In 1995 at the World Championships in Detmold , she was third behind the Swiss Marie-Luce Romanens and the British Yvette Hague and at the same time with Anna Bogren third on the short distance. In fourth place, she missed a medal by five seconds over the long distance. Jansson won silver with the relay. Marlena Jansson won a third World Cup gold medal with the relay in 1997 in Grimstad , and in 1999 in Inverness she was fourth in the short distance, two seconds behind the German bronze medalist Frauke Schmitt-Gran . In 2001 she won the O-ring .

She was successful at the Swedish championships in 1987 (ultra long), 1990 (long), 1995 (medium), 1997 (long) and 1998 (long). Jansson ran for the clubs Degerfors OK and OK Tisaren .
