Orienteering World Championships 1968
The 2nd World Orienteering Championships took place on September 28 and 29, 1968 in the area around Linköping , Sweden .
The IOF awarded the World Championships to Sweden in 1965. The most important organizing clubs were IFK Linköping and Linköpings OK .
Participating Nations
Athletes from 13 countries took part in the 2nd World Orienteering Championships.
Men's
The two men's competitions were firmly in Swedish hands. In the individual, Karl Johansson won the gold medal ahead of his compatriot Sture Björk . In the relay competition, together with Sten-Olov Carlström and Göran Öhlund, they won the relay with only a narrow lead over the Finnish relay.
