Orienteering World Championships 2017

The 34th World Orienteering Championships found in 2017 in the area of Tartu in Estonia instead.

Estonia was the first to host world championships in orienteering. In 2006 the winter sports resort of Otepää hosted the European orienteering championships.

Award

Member associations of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF) had the opportunity to apply to host the World Championships until June 30, 2013 . In October 2013, the IOF Assembly awarded the World Championships to Estonia. The People's Republic of China, Denmark and the United States were traded as further possible hosts.
