Orienteering World Championships 2015

The 32nd World Orienteering Championships will take place in and around Inverness from August 1-7, 2015 .

After the World Championships in 1976 and 1999, it is the third World Championships in the United Kingdom. Scotland was the scene on both occasions. In 1976 Aviemore hosted the World Championships, and in 1999 Inverness as well.

Award

By the closing date on January 31, 2011, the associations of the United Kingdom and Sweden had submitted their applications. Sweden ran with Strömstad , located on the Norwegian border . On August 18, 2011, the world association IOF announced the award of the World Championships to Great Britain.

Temporary Schedule

  • August 1st: Sprint relay in Forres or Nairn (Scotland)
  • August 2nd: Sprint (qualification and final) in Forres or Nairn
  • August 4th: Middle distance in Darnaway
  • August 5th: Season in Darnaway
  • August 7th: Long distance in Glen Affric

The competition center is located in Inverness on the Inverness College campus .
