Orienteering World Championships 1970
The third World Orienteering Championships were held from 27. September bis 29. September 1970 in the mountainous and forested area of Eisenach and 20 kilometers away spa town of Friedrichroda held in the GDR.
After the World Championships in Finland in 1966 and in Sweden in 1968, the World Championships were held in Central Europe for the first time. In 1964, however, the European Championships were held in Switzerland.
Participating Nations
Athletes from 15 countries took part in the world orienteering championships. That was two more participating nations than in 1968.
