Peter Öberg

Peter Öberg (born April 17, 1980 ) is a Swedish orienteer . Öberg became European champion with the Swedish relay in 2006 and won two silver medals at world championships in 2007 and 2010.

Öberg was nominated in 1999 and 2000 for the Junior World Championships in Varna and Nové Město na Moravě , could not achieve any major successes in the individual competitions. With the Swedish relay, he won the silver medal in 2000. After taking part in two Nordic championships, he was allowed to take part in the European championships for the first time in 2006 at the age of 26 . While he took a respectable fifth place in the middle distance, he won the gold medal in the relay race together with Niclas Jonasson and David Andersson in front of the teams from France and Norway. the following year he started at the world championships for the first time and was able to win the silver medal behind Russia with the Swedish team (Öberg, David Andersson and Emil Wingstedt ). Öberg won his second world championship silver in 2010 in Trondheim in the individual over the middle distance when he was seven seconds behind Norway's Carl Waaler Kaas . In 2011 he finished second again in the middle distance, this time behind Frenchman Thierry Gueorgiou . In 2012 and 2013 he won bronze and silver World Championships with the Swedish relay.

Öberg runs for the Swedish club OK Hällen . As a junior he won six Swedish championship titles. Öberg is married.
