Fabian Hertner
Fabian Hertner (born February 24, 1985 ) is a former Swiss orienteer . In 2010 he became European champion over the sprint distance, a year earlier he won silver in this competition at the world championships.
Hertner belongs to the clubs SC Liestal and OLV Baselland from Switzerland and Kalevan Rasti from the Finnish city of Joensuu . Hertner has been participating in the Jukola relay race with the latter since 2008 and won three titles in a row between 2012 and 2014.
Hertner drew attention to himself in 2005 with his victory at the Junior World Championships over the middle distance. So he joined the Swiss team and in 2006 played his first men's European and world championships. At the European Championships in Otepää he managed a good ninth place in the sprint, at the World Championships in Denmark it was enough for a 26th place. After the 2007 and 2008 seasons were rather unsuccessful, he made his breakthrough in 2009. He won World Championship silver and finished the World Cup season in sixth place. In 2010 he finally won the European championship title in the sprint in Bulgaria and the bronze medal in the long distance race. In the relay race, he won his second gold medal with Switzerland. Hertner ended his sports career in 2018. Fabian Hertner is in a relationship with Sara Lüscher .
