Nordberg, who comes from the Telemark region , started orienteering at Skien OK . After three participations in the Junior World Championships, in which he was twice fourth with the relay of Norway, he ran from 2000 for the club Kristiansands OK . Nordberg was used internationally from 2004, when he won the bronze medal in the middle distance at the World Championships in Västerås, Sweden, behind Thierry Gueorgiou from France and Valentin Novikow from Russia. In 2005 he became Nordic champion in the middle and long distance in Notodden . He won a third gold medal with the relay. In 2006 and 2007 he ran for the club Bækkelagets SK . During this time he won the world championship bronze in the long distance, the O-rings and took second place in the overall world cup. In 2008, Halden SK finally started . This was followed by two runner-up world championships on the long distance as well as the win at the Jukola with Halden 2010. Since 2011 Nordberg has been running for the Finnish club Vaajakosken Terä .
At Norwegian championships he won the night orienteering title in 1996 and in the relay race in 2005. In 2006, 2008 and 2009 a total of four more titles followed in individual competitions. In 2011 he became Norwegian champion in ultra-long orienteering. In 2011 and 2013 he was the Finnish relay champion with Vaajakosken Terä.
