Luis Aguirre Pinto

Luis Aguirre Pinto (born August 10, 1907 in Copiapó , † July 7, 1997 in Santiago de Chile ) was a Chilean composer.

Aguirre Pinto came to Santiago in 1914 with his parents, who performed as an amateur musician with piano and violin, where he learned the violin, saxophone and other instruments. In 1924 he won a competition of the record label Odeon with the song Lluvia de besos , which published the song with the singer Carlos Pérez and the orchestra of Francisco Canaro .

In 1928 he accompanied the tango singer Angela Ferrari on a concert tour through South America and composed the waltz Reminiscencia , which was sung by Pepe Aguirre . On his return to Chile he founded an orchestra with which he participated in the Caravana de la Música Chilena organized by Pablo Garrido .

For the first Chilean sound film Hombres del sur he composed the songs Rayo de luna and Canción de ausencia . Since the late 1920s, Aguirre Pinto has been composing drama music a. a. for Alejandro Flores . In 1955 his operetta Las damas caprichosas was premiered. Later on, symphonic works such as Aires chilenos (1960) and Tonada sin palabras (1970) were created.

In the 1950s, Aguirre Pinto composed boleros such as Diamante azul , Un día llegarás (recorded by Fernando Albuerne ) and Dudas de mí (for Mario Aguilera and Federico Ojeda's orchestra ). His most successful composition Camino de luna was composed in 1958 as a commission for the magazine El Correo and was recorded by Ester Soré and Cuarteto Llaima .

The singer duo Sonia and Myriam von Schrebler made their debut with songs by Aguirre Pinto in 1941 , and they were interpreted by singers such as Alfonso Ortiz Tirado , Imperio Argentina , Xiomara Alfaro , Tito Rodríguez , Leo Marini , Rosita Serrano , Arturo Gatica , Hilda Sour and Ginette Acevedo .
