Hilda Sour (born December 30, 1915 in Rancagua , † June 6, 2003 in Santiago de Chile ) was a Chilean actress and singer .

Life

Sour debuted in 1934 in Jorge Delano film Norte y sur alongside Alejandro Flores and Guillermo Yánquez . She then went to Buenos Aires, where she first worked at Radio Belgrano and then appeared as an actress at the Teatro Maipo . There she was noticed by the critic Julio Escobar , who recommended her to the director Manuel Romero . He used it in the film adaptation of his play Mujeres que trabajan (1938). Her next film was also an adaptation of a play - Jettatore (1938) by Luis Bayón Herrera , in which her film partners were comedians Tito Lusiardo and Enrique Serrano . Other films followed such as Retazo (1939) by Elías Alippi (with Paulina Singerman ), Divorcio en Montevideo (1939), Casamiento en Buenos Aires (1940) by Manuel Romero, El solterón by Francisco Mujica and Soñar No Cuesta Nada (1941) by Luis César Amadori .

In addition, she continued to work as a theater actress a. a. at the theater on calle Corrientes in Buenos Aires and performed as a singer in Chile. In 1945 she went to Mexico, where she was also active as a singer and continued her career as a film actress. The films Nocturno de amor (1948) by Emilio Gómez Muriel , Señora Tentación (1948) by José Díaz Morales (with Ninón Sevilla and Agustín Lara ) were made. This was followed by appearances at various Broadway theaters. Sour then returned to Mexico and played in 1949 in Callejera by Emilio Gómez Muriel and Maria Félix in Mujeres en mi vida .

Sour then returned to Chile and appeared in the film Uno que ha sido marino by José Bohr with the singer Arturo Gatica , who became her husband. With this and the pianist Jorge Astudillo she undertook a successful concert tour through Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. After her return, she worked on a few films such as Ciao amore ciao (1968) and El afuerino (1971) by Alejo Alvarez and occasionally in television and theater productions, but could no longer build on her earlier successes.
