Ginette Acevedo (born April 15, 1942 in San Fernando ) is a Chilean singer .

Life

Acevedo made his debut at the age of eighteen in the program La revista postal telegráfica on Radio Minería with ballads by Connie Francis and Brenda Lee . The producer Camilo Fernandez recognized her talent for South American folklore along the lines of Ramona Galarza . In 1963 her first single was released with Guarania No quiero ser , which stayed in the top charts of radio stations for nine months.

In addition to other singles such as La canción del Jangadero (by Jaime Dávalos and Eduardo Falú ), Puente Pexoa , Collar de caracolas and Anahí , their first LP La voz de la ternura was released in 1963 with the guitarist Óscar Arriagada . In 1964 she performed in Argentina at the Viña del Mar Song Festival with Ricardo Jaras Está de más . After marrying producer Luciano Galleguillos , she settled in Buenos Aires in 1964.

Acevedo soon found recognition in Argentina. In 1967 she starred in the music films Pichones de hombre and Chao, amor and appeared in the television programs Telemúsica by Raúl Matas , Argentina canta y baila with Atahualpa Yupanqui , Eduardo Falú and Los Fronterizos and Domingo 67 .

Acevedo had great success with titles such as Gaviota and Poema 20 , the setting of a poem by Pablo Neruda by Ramón Ayala . After separating from Galleguillos, she returned to Chile in the mid-1970s, intending to retire from the stage. At the suggestion of Palmenia Pizarro , she recorded the title La torcacita with Philips , which Óscar Cáceres and Luis Barragán had composed for her. She also sang it at the Festival de Viña in 1971, and it was one of her greatest hits.

In 1977 she appeared in Gonzalo Bertrán's television program Esta noche fiesta on Canal 13 , followed by other television appearances in the 1980s. Her album Mujeres de Chile was released in 1979 with compositions by Willy Bascuñán , and in 1985 Boleros. Homenaje a Lucho Gatica and 2000 Mis raíces with arrangements by Juan Carlos Duque . In 2003 she gave a concert at the Teatro Providencia in Santiago on the fortieth anniversary of the release of her first single .
