List of TV channels |
Canal 13 , formerly Corporación de Televisión de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UCTV) ("Television Company of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile"), is the second oldest television station in Chile . The broadcast began on August 21, 1959 .
The station was solely owned by the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile until 2010 and has since been operated jointly with the private Grupo Luksic , the group of the Chilean billionaire Andrónico Luksic Craig , which took over the majority of the station's shares with 67% in November 2010. Not least because of the influence of the Catholic Church , the station is rated as conservative . In November 2017 it was announced that the university would also sell its remaining shares to Luksic, who would take over 100% of the station.
Canal 13's programming is dominated by local shows, national and regional telenovelas , reality shows , news programs and other programs. Canal 13 is one of the most watched canals in the country.
