Palmenia del Carmen Pizarro González (born July 19, 1941 in San Felipe ) is a Chilean singer.

Life

Pizarro appeared on the radio show Yo también soy artista at the age of eleven . David Acevedo later hired her for his Fiesta en Corporación program , and at the age of 16 she was honored as Mejor Intérprete Folclórica . Her participation in the Así Canta Perú competition in 1962 led to a contract with the record label EMI . She recorded her first single and received her first gold record in 1963 at the Teatro Caupolicán .

For her second single in 1963 Natalio Sedini composed the waltz Desprecio for her, and she sang Vuelve pronto by Augusto Polo Campos , who later composed her greatest hit song, Cariño malo . After an EP with Cariño malo by Polo Campos , Olvídate de mi by Pablo de los Andes and Todavía and En vano by Mario Cavagnaros , their first album Qué lindo canta Palmenia was released in 1964 . She won the gold medal of the Discomania program seven times in a row and the Laurel de Oro three times .

In 1972 she took part in the Festival de la Voz y la Canción in Puerto Rico and then lived in Mexico from 1973 to 1997. From there she went on concert tours to Argentina, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Australia, the USA and Japan. She celebrated her 35th stage anniversary with her 65th album Te voy a autografiar mi corazón , which was released in 1997. After having been made an honorary citizen of Chile in 1992, she received the Asociación de Periodistas de Espectáculos Prize in 1999 and 2000 and the Premio Nacional de Música of the President of Chile in 2002 . In 2003 the double album Para que se escuche bonito was released! , an anthology of her greatest successes in her 40-year stage career.
