Ester Soré

Ester Soré (born May 27, 1915 in Santiago de Chile ; † September 6, 1996 there ; real name Marta Yupanqui Donoso ) was a Chilean singer.

Life

The daughter of Peruvian immigrants took on radio test recordings at the age of fourteen with the pianist and composer Donato Román Heitman , who gave her the name of First Soré. She began a career as a radio singer and was voted Miss Radio by Ercilla magazine in 1938 . In the same year she appeared with the humorists Pepe Arias and Pepe Iglesias and the musician Rodolfo Biagi at Radio Belgrano in Buenos Aires and in the following year worked alongside Nicanor Molinare , Romilio Romo and Los Cuatro Huasos in the Chilean film Dos corazones y una tonada by Carlos García Huidobro , for whom Donato Román had composed the music. In the same year she sang the campaign anthem for the candidate of the Frente Popular and future Chilean President Pedro Aguirre Cerda .

Alongside Rosita Serrano , Gladys Briones , Margarita Alarcón , Meche Videla and Derlinda Araya , Ester Soré became one of the most remarkable singers of her time in Chile. Her first record with the songs Como el agüita fresca and Llanto del cielo was released in 1939 by RCA Victor .
