Sonia von Schrebler

Sonia von Schrebler (born April 9, 1929 in Santiago de Chile ; † September 14, 2018 ) was a Chilean singer who was best known as the Duo Sonia y Myriam with her sister Myriam von Schrebler .

Live and act

The daughters of the singer Cora Santa Cruz began their careers as a singing duo at the age of eleven and ten in 1941 with Radio Carrera . Her first recordings were made in the next year. They performed as a duo until 1950 and then from 1957 to 1964 and went on concert tours a. a. through Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela and the USA.

After the duo separated, Sonia went to Mexico, where she started a solo career under the name Sonia la única . In 1980 she and her sister founded the record label SyM in Santiago , where recordings of musicians such as Hugo Moraga , Eduardo Gatti , Gloria Simonetti , Óscar Andrade and Miguel Piñera and a number of her own recordings of Violeta Parras were released during the dictatorship of Pinochet . In 2001 the sisters were honored as Figuras Fundamentales de la Música Chilena . In 2003 they gave their last joint concert in the Municipal Theater of Viña del Mar with the orchestra of Juan Azúa .
