Hugo Moraga

Hugo Moraga (born July 3, 1952 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean Canto author .

Moraga began studying architecture before turning to music. In the 1970s he was one of the representatives of the Canto Nuevo who stood in opposition to the regime of the dictator Augusto Pinochet . He later moved away from the political protest song and incorporated elements of bossa nova, funk, rock and jazz into his music. He recorded his first album Canciones del sur de mí in 1978. Other important albums are Lo primitivo (1980), Miércoles, ciudad mágica (1982), Niño de guerra (1984), Evidencias 1984-1977 (1998), Estelas del destino (2002) and Guitarra continuo (2006). From 2006 to 2009 he lived in Paris. His son Cristian Moraga is also active as a musician.
